History Day 2012: Revolution, Reaction, Reform
The topic, the All American Girls' Professional Baseball League, fits the 2102 National History Day Theme very well. The topic includes all three parts, revolution, reaction, and reform. There was a revolution because many Americans did not think the women could play anything but "glorified softball" and argued over this for some time. But, in the end their reaction was that many of them soon became fans and began to support the league. Eventually there came a reform, the war ended and all of the Major League Baseball players came back from the war, which soon ended the All American Girls' Professional Baseball League for good. Although, the players did not want it to be over, and they fought to play for a long time, but they gave up when they realized there was no chance of them getting to play again. The fans started to watch Major League Baseball again, and the All American Girls' Professional Baseball League was never talked about again.
