AAGPBL Out, MLB Back In!
The All American Girls' Professional Baseball League came to an end in 1954 when World War II had also come to an end. All of the men from the Major League Baseball teams who had gone to fight in the war were now back and wanted to play. In this return of men from combat, many women were forced to give up their jobs but not all women did. The All American Girls' Professional Baseball League had no choice but to end, and the girls were forced to stop playing professional baseball. Many of the girls did not take this very well; they were very upset and tried to convince the league to continue. The girls had no luck and the league eventually ended for good. Although many of the fans of the All American Girls' Professional Baseball League were also upset, they started to watch Men's Major League Baseball when it finally started up again (Galt, Margot 86).
